$160m Hotel and Conference Center Planned for Aurora

Plans for a new upscale hotel and conference center across from the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora were announced Wednesday, a project that could jump-start development near the campus.

Waveland Venturessaid it has plans to build a $160 million mixed-use urban development called Block 21. It would be alongside East Colfax Avenue. The development, if approved by the Aurora City Council, would be home to a six-story, four-star hotel with 200 rooms and a 30,000-square-foot conference center on about 7.5 acres.

It would also feature a four-story apartment building with about 100 units, said Waveland Ventures CEO Rick Hayes.
