The Denver Metro Small Business Development Center (SBDC) this week was selected by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for the 2012 Small Business Development Center Excellence & Innovation Award.
Each year, about 1,100 small business development centers across the United States are eligible for the award, whichrecognizes excellence in providing value to small businesses and advancing program delivery and management through innovation. Some of the criteria for the award include meeting or exceeding the center's performance goals and helping build small businesses by creating and implementing innovative programs.
“Winning this national award is an extraordinary achievement for the Denver Metro SBDC and the Colorado SBDC Network,” said Dan Hannaher, SBA Region VIII Administrator. “It exemplifies the highest standards of service and commitment to the Denver area small business community.”
To achieve this national title, the Denver Metro SBDC was first selected at the SBA district and regional levels. Tameka Montgomery, executive director of the Denver Metro SBDC, will travel to Washington, D.C., to accept the award at a celebration during National Small Business Week on May 21-25.
