Today I’m proud to announce that Denver has secured the first-ever nonstop flight from Denver to Asia!
United Airlines will begin service from Denver to Tokyo on its 787 Dreamliner in March – marking one of the most significant economic-development victories for Denver in recent memory. The City has worked for decades to secure a nonstop flight to Asia because of the monumental economic benefit this would have for metro Denver.
This nonstop flight will open a new frontier of opportunity for our state, better connecting Colorado with Asia’s growing markets. It will create new jobs, attract new companies, generate more than $130 million in annual economic benefit to Colorado, and elevate Denver as a world-class city on the global stage.
We are so excited for this new flight, but we will not stop here. I am laser-focused on creating new jobs and strengthening our economy. Next, we look to Central America, South America and Europe for new service to Denver. Additional international flights will serve as a critical component of our long-term plans for Airport City Denver and the surrounding aerotropolis.
We will not wait for economic opportunities to come to us – we will go out and get them. Now, we get back to work!
