A Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Meal Program volunteer event is a hands-on opportunity for individuals or teams to support families with seriously ill children by preparing and serving a home-cooked meal at a Ronald McDonald House. These Houses provide a “home away from home” for families who need to travel for their child’s medical care, often staying for days, weeks, or even months.
What it is: We will prep, cook, and serve a meal on-site. The goal is to give families a break from the stress of hospital visits and daily uncertainty by offering them a warm, comforting meal in a supportive environment.
Why it’s important: Families staying at RMHC are going through incredibly challenging times—emotionally, physically, and financially. Something as simple as not having to worry about dinner can make a huge difference. It allows parents to spend more time with their child, reduces stress, and brings a sense of normalcy and care during a difficult period. It’s a small act with a very real impact.
Why it’s fun and meaningful: Volunteers get to collaborate, cook together, and share a tangible experience of giving back. We will also learn from one of the volunteer RMD chef's - so it might be an add to your cook book.
